My mom salvaged this great book for me for Valentine’s Day to add to my little collection of holistic health reads. It got me thinking about our garden plans and how nice it would be to have one of the beds dedicated to the plants that you commonly turn to for beauty products and home remedies. Things like…Calendula, Lemon Balm, Mint, St. John’s Wort, Chamomile, Lavender, Rosemary, Sage, Johnny Jump-Ups, Chicory, Plantain, Lambs Quarters, etc…
A few of the perennials naturally grow in the yard (in random, out of the way places), but I’m thinking it also makes sense to have a few that are in a more controlled environment so I can take better care of them and there’s a more focused effort with their availability and uses. Not to mention, ‘themed’ gardens are a lot of fun to put together and watch grow…they make things seem so ‘organized’!
What kind of specialty gardens do you like to plant up? Do you have ‘medicinal’ plants that you make sure are in your garden each year for the purpose of beauty products and common home remedies?
Cheers to your backyard garden pharm!
