So bummed

June 17, 2011 in Michele's Blog

We all have something in our garden that we want more than anything to grow and produce.

Mine:  the concord grape vines.

And, they REFUSE to cooperate.

All three of them.

Granted, they’re young – (3 yrs)

(And they’ve been given lots of love, for the most part — I’m admittedly a fearful pruner)

This year looked to be the year…I was so hopeful…the vines were lush and healthy…an abundance of beautiful clusters of berries had set.

I was SOOOOOOO excited.

Then, sometime between sundown and sunrise…..

They turned on me.

Garden Rescues

June 15, 2011 in Michele's Blog

She’s a determined little thing. (my daughter)

And she refuses to just give up and let any plant that has an ounce of ‘green hope’, die.

ASK, and you shall RECEIVE (sometimes)

June 13, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Life on Gravel

June 8, 2011 in Michele's Blog

  • I could feel it under my bare feet as I walked through the house,

the backyard garden

June 2, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Like a lot of you, we’ve been in serious gardening mode the past few weeks, and it’s been DELIGHTFUL.  Lots of digging, planting and an intense observation of growth (in more ways than one). We ended up expanding our efforts into three other areas of the yard this year.
