Salvage Style Guest Room (It’s a Wrap)

May 20, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Final post on this project, my friends…

(I know…my ‘tomorrow’ turned into a couple of days…took advantage of the sunny days to finish getting things planted – today however is gloomy and rainy — perfect for office catch-up…) ::)

The finishing touches on this resourceful room re-do were inexpensive and fun.  As you all know, I love to throw touches of nature into most things and those materials always come at the right price.

Driftwood Planters

My mom created these little beauties — I swear, that woman can put a flower arrangement in ANYTHING. I believe I could give her a drinking straw and she would be able to pull off a beautiful arrangement in it.

Salvage Style Guest Room (2)

May 13, 2011 in Michele's Blog

As I always say, doing is discovering and one creative thing leads to another (guaranteed)….a recent example of that is the concrete countertop process from our resourceful kitchen renovation…it sparked all kinds of other projects around the house…including one for the the guest room re-do.

Salvage Style Guest Room Re-do (1)

May 12, 2011 in Michele's Blog

I finished up a guest room re-do a while back and thought it would be fun to share the resourceful, salvage style projects for the next few blog posts.  Will save most of the decorated ‘pretties’ for the last post — so you have something to look forward to…*grin*…You’ll also be able to catch it in the next issue of the Do It Yourself Magazine…not to mention their ‘after’ pictures are WAY sweeter than mine.

I once again challenged myself to work with what I had (so much more fun that way because you figure it out as you go and surprise yourself with what you come up with) and to celebrate salvage materials and nature in some fresh new ways.  Warning: All the different projects are easy for any of you to duplicate, cost next to nothing and can be customized in your own unique way for just about any room…so take them and run with them, my friends! ::) Read the rest of this entry →

Mother’s Day(s)

May 9, 2011 in Michele's Blog

I think,

every day is Mother’s Day really.

(Same goes for Father’s Day)

(And  Birthdays…and…..)

hopefully we are all doing our best to celebrate the ones we have, MORE than one commercially designated day out of the year!

I am most grateful for the one I have.

natural furnishings

May 6, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Ran across some old photos of a really fun grass chair project I did many moons ago and they’ve re-ignited my efforts to create or should I say ‘grow’ some unique, natural furnishings in the yard again this year.  Maybe form up more grass…incorporate some rustic log framing, vines, perennials, herbs………hmmmmm

out of town and didn’t write….

May 3, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Um, earth day was what…well over a week ago, now?

Sorry ’bout that.  It’s obviously time to get back with the program around here.

We left the yard for a bit to deliver some presentations with our friends from HGTV.

(destination….DisneyWorld…and fortunately Jon and Maddie got to get in on this one..)
