Reclaimed Hearts 4 Valentine’s

January 31, 2011 in Michele's Blog

A lovely scrappy valentine offering, my friends:

Our hearts do get roughed up and a bit distressed throughout our lifetimes, so I thought it fitting to create an ensemble of hearts using salvaged wood remnants that were lying about.

One thing led to another and I somehow ended up getting more of a kick out of creating ‘broken hearts’ than I did regular solid ones.

cats

January 27, 2011 in Michele's Blog

As I walked around the house the other day, there was one at every turn.

all cashed out

so relaxed

so centered.

not a care or a worry in the world

they force you to stop for a second, take a breath, and pet them….you can’t help yourself. Heck, they get you thinking that maybe you too should go take a nap.

I think they’re healthy to have around.

I aspire to be that relaxed and composed all day.

Cheers to the life of a cat!

yep, yep, yep…this explains a lot

I hesitate to share too much of my family’s ‘unique’ sense of humor, but I’m a bit under the weather today (see below post — try as I might, it got me..) and well, this is what you get.

My dad is famous for his one of a kind gift offerings…

Some he makes.

Some he finds.

Some he buys and ‘personalizes’.

(and to keep from overwhelming you, I’m going to save photos of these other offerings I speak of for another post.)

His latest goodie arrived in the mail the other day and it was obviously a treasured ‘find’.

flu bug fighter

January 24, 2011 in Michele's Blog

It’s very rare that any of us are sick at our house…something I’m always thankful for and never take for granted.

I try to live in preventative mode most of the time, but must have gotten a bit off track, as of late.

My little sweetcheeks was home a couple of days last week with some sort of stomach virus and there’s nothing us parents want to do but to make them better, quickly…to give them whatever relief we can as naturally as we can.

view from my desk one day…(:

Home remedies are where I always like to start & we all have our favorites:

the view continues to change

January 20, 2011 in Michele's Blog

This isn’t my first go around with the ‘beaver’ topic, but a recent walk around the pond revealed some more of their handiwork and I have to admit…while their changing of my landscaping is most frustrating, I find them fascinating.

Their creations are in some ways, natural works of art.

a change of scenery

January 18, 2011 in Michele's Blog

Came to the office Saturday night to work on a few things and went into a bit of a panic, because my computer wouldn’t turn on. DEAD. ugh.

I’ve been preparing myself for the day of her passing, but one is never FULLY prepared. She’s 10 years old, has been an ace of an office buddy, seen me through some incredible times and I don’t want to have to let her go until I absolutely have to.

Turns out it was a simple reset solution, so all on that end is good for now. (hang in there, girl!)

I also like to think that things happen for a reason and the whole process of removing the computer from my office and hauling it to the store, prompted the great escape. Read the rest of this entry →

the power of tools

January 12, 2011 in Michele's Blog

I’ve never been one to shy away from tools.

Little ones. Big ones.  Vintage ones.  Hand ones. Power ones.

I’ve always been fascinated with all that you can do with them.

They can make jobs easier and more efficient.

They can help you take your creativity and productivity to a whole new level.

And most importantly, they enable you to be even MORE resourceful.

Homecooked meals…For a DOG.

January 5, 2011 in Michele's Blog

This adorable little furball,

Has despised store-bought dog food from the very beginning.

I tried them all.  And I mean, ALL.  She walked away from them ALL.

So for the past year, her meals have been getting prepared in the kitchen right alongside ours. Read the rest of this entry →
