one guys junk pile is another gals house

August 30, 2010 in Michele's Blog

A funny one for the heels of Chad’s last posting.  In the midst of trying to finish off his backyard (in a flurry) to be ready for his daughter’s first birthday party (great bash, by the way), he filled up Jon’s truck with a big pile of junk that he didn’t want to deal with anymore and told us to burn it.  We all do it.  You have something big happening and everything needs to be cleaned up and looking sharp.  Those piles of treasures “you’re someday going to do something with” become overwhelming eyesores you don’t want to deal with anymore so you just start pitching things to be done with it all.  Read the rest of this entry →

Salvaged Inspiration

August 24, 2010 in Michele's Blog

In reflection to Michele’s fabulous kitchen redo, she inspired me to take on my own project at my house.  Michele and I have been on the same page as far as design and what we both think ‘looks good’… have FAITH and don’t judge is what I always say!  It will all turn out beautifully in the end.

So for my backyard redo I decided to take apart Michele and Jons old deck that they wanted gone from their backyard.  I wasn’t quite sure exactly what I was going to do with it, but I knew that it would come in handy.  Read the rest of this entry →

The Man Behind the Camera

August 17, 2010 in Michele's Blog

Well, I figure it time to show my face and start posting a thing or two from time to time.  Where do I start.  What I do everyday is so much fun, and putting ‘b. organic’ together is a great experience.  We have a great team here at Simply Michele and I look forward to the seasons to come.  I am in fact the ‘man behind the camera’; I am the videographer for the show and have the pleasure of bossing Michele around when we are shooting.  It is in fact an ART to shoot the way we do… setting up shots that are seamless in edit is only the start to what attributes to the ‘organic’ style of the show.  Michele is outstanding when it comes to remembering her script and thoughts; where her hands were; where she placed the tool on the table; but most importantly her ability to communicate to the viewers.  She is one of a kind, very innovative and on the forefront of what we do.  Thanks Michele!!!

In products we trust…or do we?

August 16, 2010 in Michele's Blog

It’s maddening to think about the amount of homework, research and fact finding we really need to do to insure that the products we are purchasing REALLY are organic, wholesome, pure, natural, etc.   I recently received THIS INFORMATION FROM THE ORGANIC CONSUMERS ASSOCIATION .   click to read

It was this little bundle in the body of the e-mail that initially caught my attention:

organic and i.

August 13, 2010 in Michele's Blog

  • occurring or developing gradually and naturally, without being forced or contrived.
  • relating to, derived from, or characteristic of living things

Those are the definitions that ring through for me.  Other words that come to mind are wholesome, real, colorful, genuine, resourceful, mindful, imperfect, common sense, practical, vibrant…..

An organic lifestyle for me is one that I like to say is naturally imperfect, yet practically green every step of the way.  I too am learning, exploring and growing and I still get excited about the littlest, most basic of things.   Every show we put together is a learning experience, even if it’s about something I’ve been doing for years or done a million times over again.  There’s always more to learn and I love that.   Our new season kicks off this weekend and it’s full of interesting people and ideas that celebrate nature and wholesome, creative living in a LOT of different ways.  An organic lifestyle isn’t anything new or profound.  Heck, our grandparents and those before them were living this kind of lifestyle forever, only it wasn’t labeled that or recognized as such.  I think we just kind of got away from some of the basics……and over the next several years, I strongly believe we’re going to see an incredible shift in the other direction…a shift that also includes a bit of a modernized spin on some of those basics.   Read the rest of this entry →
